The Jiaming Lake National Trails is a controlled mountain area. In accordance with Article 5 of the National Security Act, entry permit is required to enter the mountain. Application can be made online or on-site:
Online application: Submit application between 5-30 days prior to expected entry. 
On-site application: Apply in person at the  Taitung County Government Police Station, Guanshan Branch Police Station,  Chishang Branch Police Station or   local police stations under their jurisdiction. For on-site application, please provide the following documents:

• One application for entering the mountain.
• Name list of those applying to enter the mountain (including ID number, date of birth and address).
• l Mountaineering route.
• Mountaineering plan (including itinerary, equipment and emergency contact).
